Whilst there are any number of hours that go in to the behind the scenes planning of an event – the most likely first glimpse guests have as to the style and theme an event might take, is the event stationery.
Setting that scene in terms of look, colour, design – what and how the invite is printed and presented – is a source of inspiration in itself that we love and something, which can go from one end of the spectrum to the other in terms of cost.
Over the past few years and in line with the rise of other Internet based platforms, there has been a marked shift and rise in the use of online event stationery programs and here at The Source we still have a very big soft spot for that feeling you get when receiving some hard copy mail, opening an envelope and running your finger over a very beautifully embossed 700gsm invite with gold foiled edging.
There is of course, a need to balance the event itself with the style of invite. Weddings still tend to be geared towards a traditional style of event stationery – although here too, we love hand drawn designs and illustrations that adorn some of our favourite examples.
When it comes to parties and more informal occasions, there is a chance to be a little more creative – what about hand delivered cocktails with attached invite for a summer garden party – LOVE!
Our tip? Nothing sets an invite apart than an element of personalization. Your own monogram or logo front and centre or how about something with an interactive element – perhaps a balloon with invite printed on? Explore both online and hard copy options and, if the moment takes you – don’t shy away from a little DIY.
