It doesn’t happen regularly, but sometimes a couple knows exactly the cake design that they would like. Emma and Adam, via their planning team of Pippa, Steve and Emma wanted to keep a traditional style Winter Wonderland theme running through the wedding and reception, but have a completely unique element to their cake…a rugby ball!
The eventual design after much discussion and cake tasting, was agreed as a four tier showstopper including a double stack tier incorporating a rugby ball (in Sevenoaks colours – the groom’s team) bursting out of what, at some angles appeared to be a traditional, white sparkling wedding cake finished with gorgeous edible lace and handmade sugar snowflakes and a sketch was drawn to give Emma and Adam an idea of what their cake would finally look like.
Set up at the large venue of The Barnyard, Sittingbourne against a backdrop of a selection of Christmas trees and beautiful ice sculpture, their cake was a true talking point. During the setting up process they were even asked if they had somehow used a real rugby ball! For anyone wondering, no they did not! Although handmade from icing, it obviously looked authentic.
Emma and Adam have said, “We had so many compliments about the cake – design and taste”
Their ideas did not stop with the wedding cake. Being Christmas time, Bluebell Kitchen made every guest their own large customisable “Gingerbread Harry” (Harry being their little boy’s name). We added some simple decoration to each one and then each guest over the course of the evening was asked to add as crazy a decoration as possible, a fantastic interactive and creative entertainment idea. We used a fantastic recipe from Bee’s Bakery and Bluebell Kitchen smelt deliciously Christmassy throughout the day.
The whole look of Emma and Adam’s wedding day was absolutely magical including their own unique confetti “snow” and imitation snow dusted over the entire marquee floor to finish the sumptuous look. Although the weather on the day was very cold and less than perfect, inside the marquee it felt like another world.
We are delighted to have been able to share some of their gorgeous photos taken by the fantastic husband and wife team of TobiahTayo Photography.
