Ice Skating in london is a time honoured tradition that has been drawing the crowds since the worlds first artificial ice rink in Chelsea in 1876. Nowadays taking to the ice whether you are a pro or simply scramble around has become a fabulously festive must even just for the views. With so many pop up skating facilities all over the capital we have chosen to feature a couple of the most magical locations set at historic royal Palaces and world-famous heritage sites.
Skate at the Tower of London
The 1,000 year old moat at the Tower of London which last year became a sea of poppies, this year is being turned into an ice rink. Located in the building’s dry moat, the Tower of londson ice rink offers a grand historic setting for seasonal ice skating, with views of the ancient fortress. A mighty picturesque backdrop, especially as the sun sets and it’s lit up after dark. Sit on the side of the ice with a glass of mulled wine and enjoy the views!
Tickets are on sale from www.ticketlineuk.com and 02920 230130. For prices, skating times and further useful information visit www.toweroflondonicerink.com
