What inspired your career journey?

What are your trend predictions for 2016?

2016’s diary is filling up! With weddings we are seeing a growth in destination weddings worldwide, as discerning brides and grooms begin to search further a field for stunning venues and locations. Good event planners on the ground mean that it really is no more complex to host your wedding in Tuscany as it is in London.Barmitzvahs are shifting towards an all together “cooler” vibe. Modern music is largely electronic based these days, and the performances are moving to reflect that. We can see 2016 being a big year for our additional acts that bolt on to TOTEM (such as Strings on Fire) as well as Barmitzvah boys and Batmitzvah girls taking a much bigger role in the performance on the evening. Frequently they now rehearse with clients before an event to enable the main star of the show (the Bar or Batmitzvah) to perform along with TOTEM on the night to the delight of their adoring guests.Corporate events are back with a bang in 2016 having been restricted over the past couple of years due to budgets and economic factors. Many of TOTEM’s corporate clients now opting for a 12 piece plus live band with a DJ knowing that when booking TOTEM you are assured of performance all night (reception through dinner to party and everything in between)

Do you live by any motto or philosophy?

Be the best. Concentrate. Perform. Have fun.Although TOTEM do this every week they are acutely aware that for their clients their event is the single most important one in the world. We aim to make every client feel that they are the only one, even when we have 4 events on an evening.

What would your best piece of advice be for someone beginning his or her planning journey?

BUDGET! It is the most common error we see. Ensure that you either speak to an event planner or meticulously plan the elements that you would like at your event and assign a monetary figure to that item. All too often clients will book venue, entertainment and not consider that there is probably hundreds of other items that all need to fit in the total budget. Photography, Floristry, production, invitations etc don’t come cheap and if you miss them off your initial costings it will either lead to a nasty surprise or the need to cut corners later in the planning process.

What's your favourite season, why?

Summer. Outdoor performances, beaches, Singing in the forest. What’s not to like!

P.S and just for reference, what's your favourite word in the English language?

Perpetual. Obviously isn’t that everyones.
