What inspired your career journey?

Love inspired this journey. From the love of one tiny bite of a red velvet cupcake to the love of serving others. I enjoy seeing a bride and groom when they first see their wedding cake for the first time or the smiles when guests enter an event and the cake slices are brought out for their enjoyment. Their joy and excitement is the reason this journey started. Through the difficult times love reminds me that this is all worth it. Knowing that through something as simple and wonderful as a cake someone’s mood can change and a smile brought to their face.

What are your trend predictions for 2016?

1. Grand tall cakes – these showstoppers are on trend. The bigger the better, This style of cake is ideal for couples who are getting married in a venue with high ceilings and they don’t want the cake to get lost in the grandeur of the venue. 2. Florals – from lush fresh flower cascades and floral cakestands to handmade sugar flowers and hand-painted flowers. This trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere anytime soon. Brides can transform a simple wedding cake to an exquisite masterpiece by adorning it with flowers. Whether it be small clusters of posies around the cake or a cake draped with orchids, the end result is always stunning. 3. White on white – The classic white cake never gets old. Use intricate piping work, lace effects and different shapes and embellishments to bring this cake to life. For example - Brides can personalize their cake by matching the elements of the lace from their wedding dress to their cake with hints of white lace. 4. Textures – From two marble effect to Geode wedding cake. These cakes are for the bold couple who love colour and aren’t afraid to be different. 5. Semi naked cakes – beautiful and rustic cakes finished with your favourite flowers. This cake is perfect for both small inimtimate rustic weddings or add a touch of gold leaf to make this luxurious.

Do you live by any motto or philosophy?

Nothing worth having comes easy. Overnight successes never happen overnight they take years of hard work, perseverance and a large dose of optimism.
